More About Trauma Informed Training...

Early environmental trauma can affect how the brain develops, and this affect can potentially continue to impact throughout life. ENGAGE training will ensure you become more aware of what aspects of the early environment may create negative impacts on development.  We will also explore what a positive environment looks like; important if we want to support our little ones to develop to their full potential!

ENGAGE specialises in working with organisations around the support of those who may have experienced early trauma.  Many organisations have the desire, passion and drive to support our most vulnerable, whether it be around addictions, mental health, anger issues or other potential externalisations of trauma.  ENGAGE wants to support you and your staff to do this incredibly important work by sharing the latest nueroscience research in a way that you can immediately translate into practice.  So many organisations have attested to the incredible increase in their effectiveness after attending an ENGAGE training.

Through a deep understanding of the neuroscience around development, we become much better at recognising and supporting positive environments.  Only through true understanding can we hope to work more effectively and accurately.
ENGAGE is your number one training source if you wish to improve how you work with those who have experienced trauma.

Below are a number of options for workshops. However, ENGAGE is able to cater to the specific needs of your organisation if you wish to create a training unique to the needs of your organisation.  Contact us today for a free half hour consultation to talk about how we can work together to improve outcomes for our little ones!

Working with Severe Behaviour

This workshop will unpack the neuroscience around why some of our children/young people/adults may act in ways that can often astound us.  How can they reach fever pitch emotion in seconds?  And how can some continue to rage for what seems like hours?  This workshop will explain what might have encouraged these behaviours to develop, and what is going on for them in that moment.
You will also learn about yourself in that moment.  With increased self awareness we can become so much better equipped to help those around us return to a state of calm.  This workshop has opened the eyes of thousands of attendees - a whole new world of understanding awaits!
Dealing with these children/youth can be extremely upsetting, daunting, exhausting and even scary.  This workshop will increase your understanding, and therefore your ability to work with those who often reach levels of extreme stress.   This is an essential workshop for those who work in the area of severe behavior.

Getting Better at Staying Calm

You will leave this workshop with a three step process for helping our children/young people/adults get better at staying calm.
Interestingly, we often discipline for behaviour such as losing tempers, getting angry or not concentrating. ENGAGE will explain how the first step to changing these behviours is to increase their ability to stay calm and therefore create more control over what they do.
ENGAGE asks you - "how often do you build moments into your plan where you specifically help them increase their ability to be calm"?
Only through practice can we get better at something, so if we want to increase the ability to stay calm, we need to practice it!
This workshop will help you understand how we practice staying calm.  You will identify that you are doing many of the behaviours we will talk about in this session – so it won’t be all new.  What will be new, is your explicit understanding of WHY you are doing what you do, and HOW to do it a bit better.  When you leave this workshop, you will be armed with the knowledge that will help you go forth and increase the ability in others (and ourselves!) to stay calm.  What a super-power!

The Awesome Adolescent

Adolescence is a time of incredible change.  A time of transitioning from a dependent child to the new world of self-responsibility, increased social negotiation and interdependence.
Anyone who lives or works with young people MUST understand the actual changes that are occurring in the brain during the adolescent stage. Only then can we work in the most respectful way to support positive development.
Our society is changing at a rapid pace, creating new challenges for our youth to negotiate.  In order to support them in the most effective way, we need to be able to meet them in their processing space.  This workshop will help you understand so much of what is happening, you will wonder how you managed before!
We can cover a multitude of subjects, including what neuroscience can tell us about moodiness, risk taking, arguments, alcohol and drug experimentation, or that frustration of not being listened to.  They are all products of the transitioning adolescent brain - a brain changing to become equipped for all the requirements of the adult world.  So much to do, so much to learn, of course there will be a bit of 'confusion' during the alterations.
Let ENGAGE enlighten you, so you can do your work supporting our young people with an improved understanding of what they are going through.
